About Us
Growing up watching Auntie expertly and deftly move around the
kitchen was a delight. I was never allowed to cook or bake, my job as
sous-chef-in-the-making was to chop, cut, sift, grease ‘n flour (it’s all
one word you know). As I grew, so did my responsibilities. I got to crack the
eggs, and I was even allowed to stir (where were stand mixers back then).
Promotion in Auntie’s kitchen came slow, but alas one day, Auntie said “I believe
I’ll ‘let’ you bake the cake.” As far as I was concerned, I had received a golden
seal of approval and a blue ribbon to boot. Excitement almost overtook me as I baked
my very first cake. You see, Auntie’s kitchen was sacred and hallowed ground in our
family, and only a privileged few were ever granted permission to actually cook in it.
Thus began my love of baking. It is my passion. I get extreme
pleasure and satisfaction seeing the look on a customer’s face after the first bite
of one of our confections. The transformation of flour, farm fresh eggs, butter,
sugar, pure extracts, and spices into something mouth watering and utterly irresistible
is pure joy.
These recipes are time honored and proven. We at Jubilee Cakes bake
the old fashioned way, (using only fresh ingredients) just like Auntie did or perhaps
like your grandma did.. We don’t do fancy or formal, just good cakes that remind you
of home, of a time gone by. We trust our cakes will become as much of a tradition in
your family as they have become in ours.
